Ria was sitting in her room, feeling tired after all wedding rituals, yet she was on seventh sky. And why wouldn’t she be? After all she got married to love of her life. Since a long time, Manav and Ria were trying really hard to convince her parent for their marriage, And now they succeed in it.( These parents are I tell you!!! can never be happy with your decision of getting married with your choice 😦 at least they should consider things before denying. isn’t it? )
Although everything was good in her new home but still she was feeling doomed. she was missing her home badly and specially her dad. Ria was never very outspoken with her dad but like other children, she always believed that her father will be there to guide her through thick and thins of life. And indeed he was. When Ria left for hostel in graduation, she used to feel homesick terribly. Her father used to call her everyday and everyday she used to tell him that how much she misses home. And at last she would say ” I miss you dad “.
During her VIDAI when she hugged him, there are so many things she wanted to tell him. she wanted to say “he was , he is and he will always be her favorite superhero…that she can’t thank enough for always trusting her decisions and being on her side, to give her freedom to peruse her dreams, to fulfill her every demand or last but not the least to bring her into this world.” but she couldn’t say anything, all she did was cry her heart out.
When she was lost in her own world, Manav enter in room. He was talking to someone on phone. Manav gives phone in Ria’s hand and said ” He wants to talk to you”. She took the phone and put it on speaker “Hello” she said. Her father was on other side “How are you beta? how you feeling there? Everybody here is missing you. I am missing you too beta”. Ria moved into tears, with chocked voice she said “I miss more now DAD”. There was silence on both side then her father said ” I know dear. Manav is a very good guy , he will always keep you happy. I am delighted with your choice”. She hold Manav’s hand in hers, she always wanted to hear this since she told her parents about their relationship.” Thank you Dad, I am glad to hear this” Ria said happily.
It was a Sunday morning. Clock on wall was showing 8 am. Payal get out of the bed and found Ankit was not there in bed. “Ankit is up early today” she told herself and rushed to the kitchen to make them breakfast. She was taken aback by surprise to see Ankit in the kitchen.”What are you doing here? Are you so hungry already?” she asked him. He turned around and said “Good morning sweetheart!! Happy women’s Day“. He was making their breakfast. Payal felt contented “I forgot!! today is women’s day..Thank you”. After having their breakfast, Ankit told her to get ready for shopping. He wanted to buy her a present on woman’s day.
They were on their way to this mall, when they saw jam on the road. On inquiring they found out a car hit a biker. Ankit said ” You bet me, some lady must be driving that car“. It was supposed to be a joke but Payal didn’t laugh. she started looking out of other window as she didn’t want to reply . They reached to the mall. Payal bought a nice dress for herself. They were heading towards food court ,when he whispered to her “hey! Look at that lady, I wonder why she has to wear that dress… she is looking so pudgy. Today’s women wear anything in the name of fashion.” Payal looked at her, she was wearing this sleeveless mid length dress and was with her girl gang. They were busy in clicking pics. It was visible on her face that she was enjoying and doesn’t give a damn about others opinion for dress. Payal smiled and followed Ankit towards food court.
Later that night, they were sitting on couch. ” So how was your woman’s day celebration?” Ankit asked. Payal looked at him, she knew this is the right time to say this “Amazing!!! I loved whatever you did for me today. But there is something I wanted to say“. Ankit had a surprised expression on his face, “Go on” he said.
Payal continued ” We celebrate WOMEN’S DAY to respect and appreciate the achievements of women in every field. The choices they made in their life. This day is not about your women (your wife, mother, sister, friends) only but is about appreciating and respecting every women out there. And we should not confine that thought to one day but every day we should encourage her. Then only we will be celebrating this day in true sense.” Ankit smiled as he knew what she was talking about. “You are absolutely correct Payal.” He said and hugged her .
Personal note : Happy women’ day to all gorgeous ladies . This women’s day don’t wait for gift from your loved ones instead gift yourself some me time. Go and indulge yourself in some hobby classes or start reading your favorite books again, listen to your favorite music. Just do whatever makes you happy because woman’s day is all about celebrating womanhood.
I recently got married and they say ‘with marriage there comes a lots of responsibilities.’ (even though I live alone with my husband and has nothing more to call as responsibility..but sometimes I guess they are correct. )
Other morning after my husband left for office, I was enjoying my morning tea when my phone started ringing. It was a call from an old friend. she wanted to congratulate me for my marriage. We were talking after long time so soon we started gossiping about every possible thing in the world. In the middle of conversation suddenly she asked me in a very concerned voice “hey ! I forgot to ask about your in-laws. specially your mother in law…how is she??” and without any second thought I said “like any other mother in-laws” and we both laughed for a minute.
After I finished talking to her I started thinking ‘Are my in-laws really bad or I was pretending to be like any other daughter in law, who don’t like her in-laws’. sometimes we don’t realize that in our mind we has a set of fixed reference for mother in law or any other in-laws ( And all thanks to TV serials).which by the time begin to alter our feelings for them.
We have to understand that it’s not necessary that we have to follow that reference blindly every time. Try to look at the other side of coin also. Break that stereotype mind set and accept the fact that like us, they are also making their best effort to accommodate this new change in their life. Then only we will be able to make our home sweet home.
